Kicking Horse Pedestrian Bridge
The bridge is 46 meters (151 feet) across & spans the Kicking Horse River it’s the longest freestanding timber frame bridge in Canada.
The bridge was built 2001, with over 100 members of the Timber Framers Guild came from the US, Europe and all over Canada to help raise the bridge.
The superstructure weighs approximately 210,000 lbs and was constructed of 72,000 bd.ft of Douglas-fir timbers, the timbers were cut & provided by Canadian Timberframes.
If you were to lay out the wood used end to end it would = 24 regulation football field lengths.
