Your Timber Frame Journey, Manufactured with Precision

Over 25 Years of Industry Experience

Serving Homeowners, Builders & Architects Across North America

Your Vision. Your Style. Expertly Designed.

From Concept to Reality

Building a custom timber frame home is one of the most rewarding journeys you can take, and one of the most complex. Canadian Timberframes supports homeowners, builders, and architects with clearly defined material packages and a manufacturing process built for precision. The goal is simple: help projects move forward with clarity, alignment, and confidence at every stage.

A Trusted Partner for Every Project

An Extension of Your Team:

We provide support tailored to your preferences. Whether you want hands-on guidance through every step of the journey or expert advice only when it's needed, we help turn your vision into a reality with transparency and confidence.

Innovative Timber Processing:

Canadian Timberframes operates a fully integrated facility - including an on-site log yard, sawmill, design office, and advanced manufacturing centre - allowing us to maintain strict quality control and full visibility from raw material to finished product.

Our customizable and prefinished material packages ensure smooth integration and streamlined delivery, potentially saving you weeks on your construction schedule.

Flexibility in Design Scopes:

Projects are supported by our in-house design team, using advanced design software that integrates directly with architectural models for efficient coordination. We work alongside trusted engineering partners to support structural requirements while remaining aligned with the architectural vision.

Our Process At A Glance

Step 1: Log Selection Process

Our process begins at the source. Located in Golden, British Columbia, we have direct access to premium Interior Douglas Fir, known within the industry for its high strength to weight ratio, consistent grain, and natural beauty.

Experienced millwrights hand-select the best logs, evaluating fiber consistency and structural quality to ensure the best materials available enter our production process.

Step 2

Log Sorting and Grading Standards

Canadian Timberframes participates in the Timber Products Inspection program, where each timber is graded in-house and reviewed through regular third-party audits under ASTM D3957 standards.

This process allows us to supply the exact grades specified by architects and engineers without outsourcing or delay.

Step 3

Air Drying

Freshly harvested timber carries high natural moisture, which leads to shrinkage, checking, and movement as it dries. We air dry our timber on site for a minimum of one year, a natural seasoning process that stabilizes the wood by allowing controlled moisture loss through full air circulation.

This produces a consistent and more workable timber suited to precision joinery, with kiln drying available when a project requires a specific moisture target.

Step 4

From Log to Cant

Once the timber has been seasoned through our air drying process, it is moved from the deck to our sawmill and sawn into cants, which form the starting point for your project.

The lumber is then sorted, graded, and stacked with spacers to allow even airflow before being placed in our drying shed for further moisture control.

Step 5

Design and Structural Engineering Expertise

Our in-house design team works directly with homeowners, builders, and architects to create new plans or integrate timber into existing designs.

During this phase, we have the capability to develop detailed floor plans, elevations, and 3D models that establish the structure, layout, and timber requirements before manufacturing begins.

Step 6

Advanced Production Capability

With approved architectural and engineering drawings, the timber moves into production. Each piece is planed to establish a consistent reference surface, then processed on our state of the art Hundegger K2i CNC machine. Our Hundegger with 6-axis robot arm cuts the joinery that defines the frame, allowing complex and highly accurate connections to be produced directly from the digital model.

Step 7

Finishing and Quality Control

After CNC processing, the timber is moved to our shop floor for the finishing stage. Our skilled production team completes any remaining handwork required for the joinery, and the surfaces are prepared according to the client selected finish.

Timbers are then stained and treated with protective coatings, reviewed for quality contron, numbered, and prepared for shipment with the assembly documents.

Step 8

Logistics and Shipping

Once finishing and QC is complete, the timber components are packaged for transport, moved to our logistics area for storage, and shipped with numbered parts and assembly documents for an organized installation on site.

Your Customizable Materials Package

Outside of Our Scope

Timber Installation

As specialists in timber design and manufacturing, our role focuses on delivering precision-crafted materials. On-site installation is outside our scope and should be undertaken by your builder or contractor.

Turnkey Completion

We supply materials that enclose or create the 'shell' of your home. All interior finish out, including plumbing, electrical, drywall or interior partition walls, and appliances, should be completed by your builder or contractor.

Dimensional Lumber

We specialize in custom timber frames and are not a general lumber supplier. We do not provide dimensional lumber, plywood, or bulk materials typically used for commercial framing or general construction.

“The wall systems they are building are hands down the best I have ever seen.”

Every component in the wall from the hold downs to the siding is thought of before construction and because of the CAD drawings everything is in place precisely where it is needed. The walls will arrive on site and only need to be stood in place. We will cut weeks off the field construction time and end up what a superior product ready to accept the next phase of the process. I would definitely like to use this system on all exterior walls on the main floor. We spent considerable time with his drafting/design team and reviewing the plans they produce. The level of quality and detail on the blueprints is on a commercial scale - its all there - in detail. I have never worked with such a complete and detail set of plans in residential construction. All in all I am very glad that I went up to see their operation. I know that your project will not be the only one that I do with Jeff and his company.

“All Timber Frame builds in the future of my company will be from Canadian Timberframes..”

I recently had the extreme pleasure of working with the people and product of Canadian Timberframes. I have worked with other timber frame companies in the past and although they’ve been good, Canadian Timberframes went way beyond all the others! The product arrived on site carefully wrapped and very secure. The lifts all contained a written breakdown of everything in each bundle, making checking of materials before build very easy to do. The blueprints were very clear and concise.

We had a large amount of timbers and everything thing fitted together perfectly! With only one joint in the entire build requiring a simple chiseling of a 1/16” to make the fit. Any questions I had were dealt with quickly and the answers were certainly clear! I did not have one issue on this build, and that is not something you can say about most builds.

All fasteners were provided, and they didn’t cheap out and give you exactly what you need, there was always extras, which really is what you want. Each timber piece was beautifully finished and the pre-built wall panels made the job very fast. These were well constructed and about the only thing I’d change about them is to use a silicone between sections to ensure air tight seals. The people at Canadian Timberframes are truly amazing to work with, from the sales to designers to the shippers. You really will never deal with a better company! All Timber Frame builds in the future of my company will be from Canadian Timberframes.

“Your team demonstrated great rigor and seriousness.”

First, when designing the plans for the structure your team demonstrated great know-how and a lot of professionalism. Throughout the project, whether for the transport of materials/discussions for the assembly of the structure and all other questions concerning the project, your team demonstrated great rigor and seriousness. More specifically, I would like to thank Mr. David Gagné who was able to make this project a success, always available and without delay for answer our questions.

“Canadian Timberframes was great to work with from beginning to end.”

There was a lot of back and forth on the feature wall, as there were many details. CTF was easy to communicate with and eager to collaborate on ideas to make installation as smooth as possible. I look forward to working with them again in the future!
